Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
6. It's Gorgeously Animated
Though the film's animation style might be deemed pretty basic by contemporary standards, it's incredibly impressive what was achieved on a mere $10 million budget.
Given how rare traditional 2D animation is these days - especially in theatrically-released movies - what a treat it is to see something simpler and more pared-down, but which doesn't sacrifice a drop of visual creativity in the process.
While there have been some complaints among Teen Titans fans over the distinct style of the movie's animation, directors Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath have nevertheless delivered a sharp, visually dynamic film where every penny clearly ended up on the big screen.
Considering how similar so many big-budget superhero movies look nowadays, it's just nice to see something with its own distinctly expressive visual style.
