One of the most iconic elements of the original two movies is the picture that a pregnant Sarah gets taken of herself at the end of The Terminator, as is carried around by John throughout T2.

And while we don't see this picture again in Dark Fate, the film serves up an unexpectedly poignant reversal by having Sarah explain that she never took a picture of John in order to keep him safe from the Terminators.

But as a tragic result - and a tragically futile one, given that he died regardless - she's starting to forget what John's face actually looks like.
