So, this is the photo that set the internet fan community ablaze - well, at least momentarily. We'd heard rumours and a rumblings before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 went into production (but then, don't we always?) that Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield's reboot series was slowly building towards a movie featuring The Sinister Six, Spider-Man's equivalent of The Avengers. Basically, it's 6 big-time Spider-Man villains who team up to take down our friendly neighbourhood wall crawler. Only time will tell if the sequel can build upon a very lacklustre reboot, which was rushed into production in order that Sony could keep the rights to their biggest Web-Spinning money-spinner, a la Warner Brothers and Man of Steel. If the build-up to the Sinister Six is handled correctly, this could be something worth waiting for, and a premise that makes The Amazing Spider-Man series worth existing beyond Andrew Garfield's spot-on portrayal of a younger Peter Parker. If we see Raimi's trilogy as the Burton films of this particular superhero film series, we're currently in the Joel Schumacher stage (very poor comparison, I know...). Despite that, building up to The Sinister Six is a cool move that could go either way. We'll have to wait and see how TASM2 pans out in terms of quality, plot and foreshadowing- and with the inclusion of the Ravencroft Institute, it looks like they're already delivering on the latter! So, the question is, who will be part of that lineup? The roster for The Sinsiter Six is forever changing in the comics- we've gone from the original lineup of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Mysterio, Vulture and Kraven the Hunter to... erm, the likes of Shocker, Overdrive, Beetle, Living Brain, Speed Demon and Boomerang? I haven't even heard of the latter Three there! Needless to say, the films will of course take liberties with who is included, so read on for my predictions, dream casting and likelihood of certain bad guys rocking up to make Spidey's life a misery in what I presume will be The Amazing Spider-Man 4...
