It could be argued that Warner Bros. have been a little too eager to commit to multi-film projects in the past, what with David Ayer originally being eyed for sequels to Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder also originally meant to helm multiple Superman and Justice League films, but here, with The Batman, talk of sequels doesn't invoke the same kind of anxiety.

In a deep dive into Reeves' project, Forbes claim that an entire trilogy of Batman films is being optioned by Reeves and Warner Bros., with the potential for further spin-offs to come in between and after the release of sequels to The Batman.

Trilogies can be tricky, but what's exciting here is that it seems as though Reeves is charting an overarching course for the character. It's not just being taken one film at a time anymore, and while every good comic book movie should stand on its own, the Caped Crusader deserves an epic, sprawling saga.
