One of the (arguable) triumphs of The Dark Knight Rises was the way it managed to bring back virtually all the various narrative/character strands of the trilogy, from small cameos by Cillian Murphy (as the Scarecrow) and John Nolan (as Wayne Enterprises board member Fredericks) to a brief hallucination Bruce has in Banes prison, where his former mentor, Ras al Ghul (the great Liam Neeson) appears to him. Liam Neesons reappearance in Nolans Batman world proved to be as startling and confusing for him as it was for Bruce Wayne. I went and shot a scene for two hours with Christian Bale, Neeson recalled after the shoot. I said, Chris, what am I doing?
