The Dark Knight Rises Deleted Scene Reveals Bane’s Backstory

Did you find yourself scratching your head a little as to who Bane was and why exactly he was such a cold-hearted sumbitch in The Dark Knight Rises? In the comics Bane (played by our very own Tom Hardy) has a deep and complex origin, which was only partially explained in Nolan€™s trilogy-ender. But TDKR costume designer Lindy Hemming told GQ that one of the scenes which found itself on the cutting room floor would have gone into more elaborate detail. It€™s reported that this scene revealed Bane being critically injured as a youngster and later suffering abuse as a result of his disability. Hemming said:

€œThe thing that you should have seen during that sequence is being injured in his youth, so one of the fundamental things about his costume is that he has this scar from the back injury". "If you look at the film, unless they've cut it - and I'm sure they haven't - there's a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he's fighting and being taunted by people€. "He's got chains on him, and he's standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he's wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask."

Comic book legend Chuck Dixon, who was responsible for co-creating the original Bane character, recently said that he was pleased with Tom Hardy€™s portrayal of the cold, sociopathic mastermind.
