21. Easter Egg: The Overlook Hotel

In the therapist's office, Jake encounters what's presumably a Beam-Quake, a seismic event that happens when one of the beams holding up the Dark Tower is destroyed.

As the office shakes violently, we close in on a photograph that should be very familiar indeed to Stephen King fans: an image of the iconic Overlook Hotel from Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining.

This not-so-subtle nod has caused many fans to consider whether or not Columbia might be toying with the idea of a wider Stephen King Cinematic Universe, which honestly sounds totally awesome.
