Vin Diesel was on hand to introduce The Fate of the Furious' world premiere at CinemaCon, and ahead of the film screening, he stated, “As the world sees this movie, they’ll see how it's the beginning of a new trilogy.”

Subsequently, the scattered post-screening impressions mentioned that a number of characters and threads were introduced that earmark this movie as the beginning of a new, post-Paul Walker trilogy with its own distinct feel.

This ties in with the aforementioned response that the film is surprisingly different to what's come before in a number of ways, and while it would be silly to actually expect these movies to conclude with Fast and Furious X, hopefully it'll ensure this and the two following films feature an intriguing arc that compellingly ties them together.
