2. The Incredible Costumes & Production Design

But what would all that particular framing and all those fancy camera movements be without the rest of the below-the-line work?

The Favourite has long been a front-runner for the Best Costume Design Oscar, and with its incredible array of elaborate, intentionally ridiculous garb, rightly so.

And that's not to forget the stunning production design, making incredible use of Hertfordshire's Hatfield House while dramatically re-designing the interiors of the country house to suit the film's needs.

It all adds up to a sumptuous, gorgeous feast of a film, and though period films are often nominated for crafts Oscars seemingly for the sake of it, this is one such offering that's absolutely deserving of all the plaudits.
