1. It's Fast-Paced & Easy To Watch
And finally, above all else, The Greatest Showman is a frothy, Christmas-time release aimed at the family crowd full of turkey and eggnog, and to that end, it delivers a snappy, enjoyable time even if it doesn't offer much food-for-thought.
Considering that this time last year audiences had to deal with the one-two punch of Monster Trucks and Collateral Beauty being dumped in cinemas, a breezy, historically inaccurate Hugh Jackman musical is practically fantastic by comparison.
A lot of musicals buy into their own portent and end up being wildly overlong messes, but at a crisp 105 minutes, this is a movie that doesn't ever begin to outstay its welcome with its breakneck pace and unapologetic sense of glamour.
It's very flawed, sure, and that brief run-time does mean the first act indeed feels rushed, but overall The Greatest Showman is an incredibly easy sit that largely succeeds as a stylish charm offensive.
