8. It's Shot On 70 mm Film

There is just something about the striking visual of 70 mm film: it was the medium of choice for such classics as Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia and Ben-Hur. Where standard film stock is 35 mm, the double-wide film allows for a grander capturing of landscapes and action blocking. Anyone who has seen Inglourious Basterds or Django Unchained can appreciate what 70 mm will add to the overall aesthetic. Tarantino, ever a stickler for authenticity, will be able to better capture the magic of a bygone era of classic film by simply doing what they did best. In a technological age where there is probably an app to make digital look like 70 mm, QT is doing it old-school. The 70 mm limited release will drop on Christmas Day, with 35 mm and digital coming in January. Come on though, if you're gonna see it, see it in 70.
