5. It Subtly Mocks The DCEU

Many fans were wondering whether the self-awareness of the Lego movies would allow this one to throw a little shade at the rather contentious nature of the DC Extended Universe to date.

While it's kept relatively subtle, likely to avoid upsetting Warner Bros. execs, there is some distinct mockery of the movies to date, especially Suicide Squad, noting the silliness of a plot that hinges on breaking the bad guys out of prison to fight other bad guys.

Also, considering Killer Croc's underwhelming treatment in David Ayer's movie, here he shows up for a moment, helps out The Joker and says, "I did something!"

There's nothing overtly sassy here because, of course, it's still a Warner Bros. movie, but it amusingly concedes the inherent silliness of Suicide Squad and also of Batman v Superman. Impressive, considering this movie was long in production before the problems with those two films came to light.
