Whilst he finds time for his own visual flourishes, the filmmaking of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. isn't going to be totally modern. In fact, from the looks of it a lot of the cinematography is inspired by the TV series and other sixties spy movies in the same way the clothes, plot, characters and music is. Case in point: the unbelievably cheesy yet retro-cool zoom the camera does when Armie Hammer's backstory is being read out. It's a totally old school move that you rarely seen in modern film grammar, another nod to the period setting.
