The Matrix 4 CONFIRMED! Keanu Reeves Returns As Neo
He still knows kung fu.
The Film Gods give and the Film Gods taketh away. In the same hour that Disney and Sony's Spider-Man deal was announced as being dead, we've also been given the delightful news that there's going to officially be a fourth Matrix movie and that Keanu Reeves is returning in the lead role.
Despite talk not so long ago of a sort of reboot that could have starred Michael B Jordan, Variety are now reporting that Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct a fourth movie set in The Matrix universe and both Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will come back as Neo and Trinity.
The announcement was officially made by Warner Bros chairman Toby Emmerich and now we can all get ready to be plugged back in with production eyed for the end of 2020.
This comes after a few years of Warner Bros attempting to get back into The Matrix, despite how the third movie ended and with Keanu Reeves pretty much the single biggest actor brand in Hollywood right now, it looks like very much no better time to strike. The Variety report also vaguely alludes to Morpheus being involved but perhaps with a recast actor for a younger take, which seems... odd.
So now we can get on with speculating on how this fourth instalment is even possible, given the way the trilogy ended, but that's for Lana Wachowski to worry about.
