The Menu Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
1. It's Too Obvious At Times
Nobody is going to come away from The Menu calling it a subtle satire, and while that's hardly a problem for the majority of its runtime, there are certainly some moments where it gets a little too heavy-handed for its own good.
There are times where characters verbalise the movie's themes in overt ways that come off as unnatural, no matter that most audience members will be able to interpret the thematic intent from what's happening on screen.
Again, for the most part Seth Reiss and Will Tracy's script nails a solid balance, but there are occasions when it puts a little too fine a point on specific concepts for the cheap seats.
These issues aside, though, The Menu has a lot to offer audiences looking for a thrilling, hilarious night out at the movies...
