The Scary Movies Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Scary Movie 5
Scary Movie V came along in 2013 a whole nine years after the last instalment in the series. It seemed like a strange choice, as there was no demand for it, and parodies had all but died out.
Absence did not make the heart grow fonder for this franchise. There was a time for this kind of humour to feel appropriate, but in 2013 it just didn't have a place. Even if the film had been a decent outing, it still wouldn't have done well, as comedy had moved on without it.
Although the Scary Movies certainly had no sense of logic or continuity, they at least had reoccurring actors and characters that made them feel familiar. The only memorable face in this was Simon Rex from the third film, and even this wasn't enough to make it feel like a Scary Movie.
An over-reliance on gross humour worked at times in the previous films, but they got on well because the characters they created were fun and likeable. In this version, there is simply no-one that you enjoy seeing on screen.
Not funny, no logic and arriving way too late. This was the final nail in the parody movie coffin.
