The Simpsons: 10 Classic Episodes That Could Have Been Movies
10. Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire (Season 1, Episode 1)
The Treehouse of Horror episodes are considered some of the best episodes of The Simpsons and some of the best Halloween TV specials ever, so it's unfortunate that the golden era of The Simpsons (generally considered the first 10 seasons, but if you're a real purist, it's season 3 to 8) featured so little Christmas specials. It's even more unfortunate when you consider that the whole show started on a Christmas special and a damn good one at that.
Really, a Simpsons Christmas movie would not only make sense, it could also easily be a Christmas must-watch if done right. Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire is jam-packed with both humor and emotion.
Given the number of lovable characters we've grown to know so well from the series, a Simpsons Christmas movie could easily make us both laugh and cry while we're drinking eggnog in our ugly Christmas sweaters if it showcases how all of the Simpsons characters spend their Christmas and not just the Simpsons family themselves. It could also make up for the lack of Christmas specials during the golden era if it's written with the same wit and charm from those days.
