2. The Terrible, Sequel-Baiting Ending

No spoilers here, but the film's ridiculously predictable third act dovetails into an ending which, bizarrely enough, actually attempts to set the table for a sequel.

Despite little else prior in the movie suggesting the prospect of The Tax Collector becoming a series, the film's final scene eschews an expected showdown and instead opts to set the table for another movie.

It places a peculiar, infuriating capper on the story, that Ayer seemingly felt there was enough material here for at least another movie. Somewhat mercifully, the film's critical pannings and dim commercial prospects at least make a follow-up unlikely.
