Thor's Chris Hemsworth Will Be Back For Star Trek 4 Somehow
The timeline is about to get even more confusing.
Hands up who wants even more time travel in the new Star Trek universe?
After the news that Star Trek Beyond is picking up great reviews, Paramount have moved pretty quickly to confirm that the franchise will continue.
At the Star Trek Beyond press conference, JJ Abrams was asked about the possibility of a fourth instalment and he responded positively:
"Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figurative minutes away from talking about. But the answer is 100 percent yes, and it’s incredibly exciting."
Since that quote, Scott Mantz has revealed that the script finished and also, strangely that Chris Hemsworth will return as George Kirk. Despite the fact that he died in the first act of Star Trek.
So, that's either going to mean we'll see more time travel, or a Star Trek Generations style reunion in a realm beyond reality, or the whole Father Haunting Son dynamic will reach its logic Lion King-like conclusion as a giant Hemsworth head manifests in the clouds and tells Pine that he has finally lived up to the Kirk name or something.
Either way, adding an actor that big is always going to be a good thing for Star Trek, no matter how much narrative back-peddling or timeline convolution it requires.
