20. Jennifer Lawrence - Mother!

Jennifer Lawrence has just about done it all. She has starred in multiple blockbuster franchises, she has done sci-fi, comedy, drama, a spy thriller, and of course took home an Academy Award for her role in The Silver Linings Playbook at just 22 years old.

As well as all of this, she has dipped a toe into the world of horror. This came with the likes of The House at the End of the Street, and most notably Mother! The latter was one of the most divisive films in recent memory, with Lawrence being just as horrified as many of those who watched it.

Daren Aronofsky's 2013 effort is incredibly creepy, in which a cult overtakes the house of Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem's characters. The latter seemed happy enough, while the former understandably took exception. Things escalate throughout the film, until Lawrence's character has a child, who is swiftly passed around by the cult living in her house, killed, and eaten.

Lawrence herself once said that filming that scene was the worst feeling of her life, and that she didn't know if she would ever make such a movie again. In fairness, there aren't too many quite like Mother!, but regardless, she has stayed away from horror ever since.
