TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY Poster Has Gary Oldman Assembled From Numeric Code!

Working Title brings John Le Carre's seminal cold way spy novel to the big screen for the first time in September, with more supreme talent involved than any other film this year.

We don't have a James Bond or a Jason Bourne movie to look forward to this year (they are coming though.... just in 2012) but what we do have is a gloriously exciting adaptation of John Le Carre's seminal cold war spy novel Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy. Working Title€™s attempt to bring the novel to the big screen for the first time (though there was an amazing 70's t.v. series with Alec Guinness that this film will need to go to some quality to beat) has been on our radar every since it€™s extraordinary cast was brought together. A legion of blighty character actors led by Gary Oldman have worked from what I€™ve heard is a top-rate script by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) and the chance for them to work with Let The Right One In€™s Swedish helmer Tomas Alfredson who is making his English language debut here but has lost none of his talent in translation for a quietly sinister mood, drama through action and the looks on people€™s faces, and the power of words delivered just at the right note. Having talked about the fabulous trailer last month, we now have a one-sheet poster to devour, featuring Oldman's George Smiley assembled from numeric code, with a thoughtful pose that just makes me want to know what he is thinking. Oldman leads as George Smiley who comes out of retirement to hunt down a Soviet mole in €˜the Circus€™, the highest department of MI6. His future The Dark Knight Rises co-star Tom Hardy is Ricky Tarr, a Brit operative who lends a helping hand, Colin Firth is a senior intelligence figure and Mark Strong has a substantial role as Circus agent Jim Prideaux. Benedict Cumberbatch supports alongside John Hurt, Christian McKay, Kathy Burke, Ciaran Hinds, Toby Jones, Stephen McGraham and Simon McBurney. Pretty much a who€™s who of British character actors. It gives Valkyrie a run for it€™s money in that department. Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenko has the key role of Russian spy Irina. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy hits U.K. theaters on September 16th and in the U.S. on November 18th.
