The Michael Bay reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has never been a popular subject of discussion among the hardcore fan base or the creators for that matter and the latest buzz is that Peter Laird - who worked on the original kick ass comic book with Kevin Eastman - has some serious doubts as to who Bay is looking to cast in the role of cagey reporter April O'Neil. Writing on his blog, Peter Laird wrote;
My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two "Transformers" movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) "Jennifer's Body". It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O'Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that's what they want. Who knows? I can't get myself too worked up about it.
Whether Fox ends up in the final piece remains to be seen however Bay fuelled the flames himself when he made the following announcement on his blog: TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family! As much as we love Ms Fox she certainly wouldn't be our first choice in the role either however she'd certainly bring a little sex appeal to the film and given the rumour that Bay's Turtles are Aliens and not mutants after all it's becoming more and more apparent that this will be a complete departure from the TMNT's we know and love. Until filming begins this is all speculation of course and the last we heard producers were auditioning for the roles of Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo all of who will be motion captured. Sadly it is unlikely that Corey Feldman will be making a return as Donny but with the way things are going who knows. Maybe we can hold out for a cameo?
