Tobey Maguire feels an AFTERBURN

INDIANA JONES meets MAD MAX?

By Matt Holmes /

Tobey Maguire and Neal Mortiz are teaming up with Relativity Media to produce Afterburn, an adaptation of a comic book published by Red 5 Comics and created by Paul Ens (co-founder of TheForce.net). The first issue hit the stands in January and it's a sci-fi adventure set against the backdrop of a postapocalyptic Earth...

Set against the backdrop of a postapocalyptic Earth, whose Eastern Hemisphere was destroyed by a massive solar flare, leaving what life remains mutated from radiation and fallout. The story revolves around a group of treasure hunters who for the right price extract such objects as the Mona Lisa, the Rosetta Stone and the Crown Jewels while facing rival hunters, mutants and pirates along the way.
No writer is attached as of yet and it's unknown whether Maguire would be interested in starring in the movie too. Clearly from the poster, there is at least one male lead and actually the female character looks an awful lot like Eva Green. Can you believe Tobey Maguire has only done two non-Spidey movies since his first outing as the webslinger seven years ago? That's all set to change though in the future as he has Brothers (a love triangle set in war time which is due out in December), Quiet Type (a rom-com) and Tokoyo Suckerpunch (comedy/crime movie) on his upcoming schedule along with a small cameo in Ben Stiller'sTropic Thunder as his future as Peter Parker remains uncertain. source - the hollywood reporter
