15. Yes, There's A Flashback

It's also made clear early on that the film's going to have at least one flashback sequence, with the obligatory washed-out visuals, of course.

As a voice-over reminds Lara that her father is dead, we catch our first glimpse of a young Lara and her famous archaeologist father, Sir Richard Croft, played by the fantastic Dominic West.

Though this is in all probability nothing but a paycheck role for West, it's still great to see such a ridiculously talented actor taking the part of Lara's steely pop. Hopefully the flashback can avoid being cliched, but you wouldn't be smart to bet on it.
