9. The Destruction of the Death Star (Star Wars, 1977)
Look at the size of that thing! Almost there... ! Did it go in? Negative, it impacted on the surface. Lets blow this thing and go home! Lines from a popular porn film? Perhaps. But also lines from the climactic battle scene from the first Star Wars film. Incredibly tense, well-staged and just downright amazing, this scene really does have everything. You have a little bit of comedy here and there, you have the tension, you have great FX and finally you have Han Solo coming back to save the day. Its a really amazing finish to a really great film.
8. The Music Communications Scene (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1976)
Even if you havent seen the movie, you likely know the music. Its just a few notes, but its part of humanitys effort to communicate with an alien species, and the fact that the species seems to understand and reply back.
