Train To Busan Sequel Gets US Release Date
The highly-anticipated zombie horror sequel is set for a U.S. theatrical release.
Director Yeon Sang-Ho’s action horror film Peninsula, the sequel to his 2016 breakout hit Train To Busan, is getting a U.S. theatrical release via Well Go USA.
After being screened at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, the North American distribution rights were picked up by the indie distributor, which specializes in bringing foreign action and genre movies Stateside, which will see the film in 150 theaters across the U.S. and Canada on Friday, August 7. Streaming rights were picked up Shudder, with a tentative release date of 2021.

Yeon Sang-ho set the bar for zombie movies with Train to Busan and its prequel Seoul Station, and we’re thrilled to be the home of his new masterpiece—and the only place where movie lovers will be able to stream this outstanding trilogy together
The film will be set four years after its predecessor, and follow a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic Korea ravaged by a zombie plague. The cast stars Gang Dong-Won, Lee Jung-Hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae-Hyo, Kim Min-Jae, Go Kyo-Hwan, Kim Do-Yoon, and Lee Ye-Won.
Released in 2016, Train to Busan was a smash hit in Asia, breaking box office records and becoming the highest-grossing South Korean film of all time. An animated prequel entitled Seoul Station was released one month later, and a possible English-language remake is in the works.
