Uncharted Movie: 10 Important Developments You Need To Know

10. It's A Prequel Starring Tom Holland As Young Nate

In the early days of the Uncharted movie's development (it was first announced way back in 2009), it was intended to feature a fully-grown adult Drake, based on the character who lead all four main games (and Golden Abyss).

But in May of 2017, the entire project was flipped on its head.

Deadline reported that Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland - who, at the time, had not yet released Spider-Man: Homecoming - was in negotiations to star as a young version of Nathan Drake, in a movie that took inspiration from scenes in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which showed Drake as a troubled kid roaming the streets.

Apparently, the higher-ups at Sony Pictures were so pleased with the latest cut of Holland's solo Spidey debut that they decided to build a second franchise around the young star, to complement his frequent appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It's expected that the movie will be a prequel to the adult Drake parts of the Uncharted games - taking place when Drake is in his mid-to-late teens - and will therefore be considered canon, but at this stage, that isn't fully clear.
