6. Maika Monroe - Victorian Psycho

There are few actresses working in the horror space right now more innately compelling than Maika Monroe. She's a terrific actress who can bring so much presence to even the weakest script, ensuring she's one of the few undisputed modern-day Scream Queens.

And next up, Monroe will be starring in an adaptation of Virginia Feito's novel Victorian Psycho, where she portrays an eccentric governess by the name of Winifred Notty who comes under suspicion when her co-workers at a gothic manor house start to vanish.

Monroe has proven herself extremely adept at playing both embattled heroines and unhinged villains over the last decade-plus, so there's absolutely no concern about her ability to knock this one out of the park.

Intriguingly, Monroe was hired to replace Margaret Qualley, who exited the film last May shortly before shooting due to scheduling conflicts, but this honestly seems like a net win for the production.

Considering the film was recently selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival, it'll hopefully do full justice to the caliber performance we know Monroe is capable of delivering.
