10 Upcoming Movies Which Are Already Doomed
2. Desert Warrior
Desert Warrior is a historical action-drama film starring Anthony Mackie as Hanzala, a mysterious warrior who rescues a princess (Aiysha Hart) from the tyrannical Emperor Kisra (Emperor Kisra).
The $150 million blockbuster is the largest film production ever shot in Saudi Arabia, with Saudi production company MBC Group hoping for it to be a launching pad for other star-studded tentpoles.
However, Desert Warrior wrapped shooting back in February 2022 and still hasn't been theatrically released.
The film's post-production process dragged on for years, in part due to director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) briefly quitting the film amid creative differences before later agreeing to return.
Desert Warrior did finally premiere at the Zurich Film Festival last September, yet most major outlets didn't even bother reviewing it, which really tells you how little interest there is in this one.
U.S. distributor Vertical expects to release the film theatrically later this year, though the chance of it getting anywhere close to recouping its hefty budget is basically nil.
