5. Being Stuck In Release Limbo - Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2

The first chapter in Kevin Costner's ambitious four-film Western series Horizon was released back in June 2024 to mixed reviews before bombing at the box office.

This was seriously problematic considering that Chapter 2 had already been shot, and a small portion of Chapter 3 had also been filmed.

Chapter 2 was originally set to release just two months later in August 2024, but after Chapter 1 flopped, the decision was made to push its release to an undetermined date.

And despite Chapter 2 premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September 2024, two years on, it still hasn't been released. 

Given that Chapter 2 received similarly mixed reviews, it seems evident that everyone knows the sequel is a bomb in the making and doesn't know what to do with it.

Further complicating matters is two lawsuits being filed against Costner - one for unpaid costume rentals, another for sexual harassment - which have reportedly "frozen" all plans for the sequel's release.

And considering that interest in the franchise was clearly already limited-at-best, waiting to release Chapter 2 is only going to make it even less relevant.
