20 Upcoming Movies That Just Got Cancelled
5. The Mandalorian & Grogu 2
The Mandalorian and Grogu saw Disney attempt to translate the thrills of their popular Star Wars TV series to the big screen, and while a second film was never officially confirmed to be in the works, star Sigourney Weaver mentioned that she and other members of the cast and crew were hopeful for a sequel.
After all, if it performed in line with most other recent Star Wars movies, why wouldn't Disney greenlight a follow-up?
But the film ended up cratering at the box office, grossing just $345.7 million against a $165 million budget, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film ever, landing below Solo: A Star Wars Story's $393 million.
This naturally leaves a second Mandalorian and Grogu movie completely out of the question, and beyond that even casts doubt on a fourth season of the TV show, which creator Jon Favreau reportedly already has scripts written for, and which were put aside to focus on development of this movie.
