20 Upcoming Movies That Just Got Cancelled

16. Fire Lord Zuko

Mere days after Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender was released on Paramount+, a report emerged which indicated that the studio recently scrapped a planned standalone film based on the character of Fire Lord Zuko.

Earlier this year, Avatar co-creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko confirmed that various theatrical Avatar films were in development, just before word did the rounds that the Zuko movie was the second planned film and the furthest one in development when it was nixed.

Moreover, the film would've seen Oscar nominee Steven Yeun reprise his voice role as Zuko from the first movie.

Production was said to be in the voiceover stage with some pre-viz carried out on the animation side, but for reasons unknown, Paramount ordered Avatar Studios to kill the project.

Naturally, the news left scores of Avatar fans furious and demanding that Paramount un-scrap the film, Coyote vs. Acme-style, though that seems massively unlikely, especially considering how far from the finish line it was.
