3. The Alternate Ending

Perhaps the single most significant images in the montage are the brief glimpses of the expanded ending sequence where David shoots a police officer (played by Michael Shannon, who appears briefly in the main movie) in the lobby of the Life Extension building.

Curiously this scene was featured in the 1997 Spanish film upon which Vanilla Sky is based, Open Your Eyes, yet for whatever reason was reduced to a mere subliminal image here and, later, a Blu-ray extra.
