No single person appears in David's climactic flood of memories more than his lover Sofia Serrano (Penelope Cruz), with Crowe recycling numerous images of her from the movie, typically when she's in bed with David.
But these images do also speak to David's own cognitive dissonance later in the film as he struggles to reconcile the dichotomy of Sofia and Julie in his life.
And so, Crowe also includes a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Sofia's hands bound, despite this being something we saw David actually do to Julie in the movie.
Aside from footage shot for the main movie itself, there are also a few candid photographs - again, most of them of the pair in bed - which further demonstrate just how deeply she has burrowed her way into his brain.
