5. Venom Loves Chocolate
Further to the aforementioned gag regarding Venom's appetite, near the end of the movie he begs Eddie to take him to Mrs. Chen's convenience store to stock up on snacks, insisting they gorge on chocolate.
It sounds like a throwaway goofy line, but it in fact has a rather eccentric rooting in the comics, where Venom consumes chocolate in order to keep his brain-devouring tendencies at bay.
The hilarious reasoning for it? Chocolate contains the compound phenethylamine, the very same one that resides within small sectors of brain tissue, allowing Eddie to keep Venom's savage insanity under control.
To be honest, considering how there are only trace amounts of the compound in a healthy human brain, it's probably way more efficient to just eat chocolate anyway. But one suspects Venom just loves biting people's heads off.
