Following the opening space shuttle crash in Malaysia, if you're listening carefully you'll hear a namedrop of John Jameson among the injured astronauts in the spacecraft.

In the comics, Jameson was similarly an astronaut who, in addition to bringing Venom to Earth, was also the son of The Daily Bugle's iconic editor-in-chief, J. Jonah Jameson. He would also go on to become the lycanthrope superhero known as Man-Wolf.

It's unlikely Jameson will ever be featured again in this continuity, especially as Ruben Fleischer has already acknowledged it was just a cutesy gag, but the film did at least appear to leave his ultimate fate a little ambiguous, so you never know.
