Venom: 50 Shades Of Grey Writer Working On Script
The symbiote gets kinky...
Ever wondered what Tom Hardy might look like wearing a ball gag? Ever had a yearning to see Venom in nipple clamps or a sex swing? Then you might just be in luck!
According to Variety‘s Justin Kroll, Kelly Marcel, the writer behind the screen version of 50 Shades of Grey is working on the latest draft of Sony's Venom script. That alone might make you a little iffy, but Marcel also wrote the delightful Saving Mr Banks and is working on Disney's live-action Cruella with Emma Stone. As a body of work taken together, that's quite an odd mix and should give precisely zero evidence of suitability to write about an alien symbiote creature.
Still, it's good to see a female writing voice in the traditionally male-dominated superhero script game, and she did manfully to turn the 50 Shades book - which is written like it was penned by a room full of chimpanzees - into something viable as a script. So that's something to be proud of. And Saving Mr Banks - again - is gorgeous.
She'd best get her skates on though, as Sony's planned release of October 5th, 2018 means she and Ruben Fleischer have just a year to get it written, shot and into post-production. Surely that date will get pushed back?
