3. The Video Game-Esque Final Battle
As enticing as the prospect of a climactic superbrawl between Venom and Riot was, sadly the over-the-top finale once again feels like something the superhero genre should've left alone ages ago: an incoherent jumble of retrograde CGI.
Though Venom and Riot generally look decent enough when stood still, their hyperactive final fight is mostly rendered incomprehensible as the two blurry blobs slam each other around with reckless abandon.
Unfortunately the comparisons to PS3-era cut-scenes are inevitable, because nothing in this battle feels like it belongs in a movie released in 2018 with a $100 million budget. It's just ghastly digital husks rolling around, unaided by overly frantic editing.
If you really like your dumb schlock, though, it might prove ironically entertaining.
