9. Maria / Original Venom Host

The brilliant Melora Waters makes a surprise appearance in the movie as Maria, a homeless woman who ends up subjected to Drake's symbiote experiments and is initially bonded with Venom.

She quickly exits the movie after attacking Eddie when he breaks into the foundation's lab, at which point the symbiote transfers to him and she dies as a result.

Maria ranks higher than Kasady or Skirth solely through the virtue of not inspiring accidental comedy or irritation: she's vaguely charming during her initial scene on the street with Eddie, and Waters sells the small role as skilfully as you'd expect from an industry vet.
