Warner Brothers are on the hunt for the next big kids franchise as they are running out of Harry Potter stories! Variety are reporting that the childrens novel Skulduggery Pleasant has been picked up by the studio, along with the other 8 titles planned in the series but which are not yet written. The script for the movie will be written by the book's author Derek Landy...
Book, set in contemporary Dublin, follows a wise-cracking skeleton detective and his young female accomplice, who together try to stop the return of the evil Faceless Ones.
The character sure looks very visual and that certainly worked for Ghost Rider which took in far more money that the film's worth earlier this year. The book is getting some great reviews and the dialogue is said to be extremely witty. Of course, the big hurdle Warners will have to jump with the franchise is that they are going to have to avoid making the character look dumb or unrealisitc. If he's going to be CGI, they are going to have to make him extremely convincing for the whole running time and not just one or two scenes.
