Russell Brand's career and love life seems to be on the up this year. We may not be able to watch his wedding later this year, or maybe we will, but we can watch the first five minutes of Get Him to the Greek, a spin-off from Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he reprises rocker Aldous Snow. The first five minutes are overloaded with insanity, crude humour and admittedly it's not one for your gran (not with him giving birth to an African child and calling himself a white space Christ) but we think Brand has found his calling in this arrogant, and pompous rockstar. Get Him To The Greek Opening - watch more funny videos Brand says of his character that is was pretty much based on ex-Oasis star Noel Gallagher,
"I learned this kind of inherent nonchalance that rock stars have from Noel. I was so troubled by this nonchalance, I took to inquiring as to why it was going on. I said: 'Why are you so nonchalant, Noel?' Then there followed a brief time while I explained the word nonchalant. Not really - Noel Gallagher is a brilliant man and poet but I did have to explain that word. Then he said, 'It's because I know that anywhere I go, whatever happens to me, no matter what people say, as long as I've got the guitar and the ability to play, people will pay 10 quid to come and see me.' So I thought. 'That's good.' Aldous Snow is a person who knows that people will pay money if he's got his gift, whereas a comedian or whatever, you tend to be more neurotic about stuff like that."
The film is written and directed by Nicholas Stoller, who made Forgetting Sarah Marshall with Kristen Bell in the title role. She was overshadowed by Brand's over-the-top, wild playboy Aldous Snow which clearly led to him getting his own movie. We have yet to see if Brand can do anything else but the 'nonchalant' rockstar but with a Dudley Moore remake of Arthur coming up, co-starring Helen Mirren, he's in good company and if he does it right could make the best move of his career yet.
