What Every Major Character Did After The Lord Of The Rings
11. Faramir
Faramir is one of the most unfortunate characters in The Lord of the Rings.
The son of Denethor, steward of Gondor, he was constantly put down by his father and considered inferior in comparison to his older brother Boromir. Captain of the Rangers of Ithilien during the War of the Ring, he proved himself to be a brave fighter and competent leader, being severely wounded while trying to retake Osgiliath.
After surviving being almost burned alive by Denethor he proved himself a more honourable Steward than his father, readily handing over power to Aragorn when he reclaimed the throne.
Because of his wounds, he wasn't able to take part in the Battle of the Morannon, remaining in Minas Tirith where he met Eowyn who was recovering from her fight with the Witch King. They married soon after.
After Aragorn's coronation he was made Prince of Ithilien and went to live there with Eowyn. He was ordered by the king to destroy Minas Morgul to get rid of any evil and remnants of Sauron's forces that still remained there. He died aged 120.
