7. Kevin Spacey Is Lex Luthor (duh)

It's somewhat poetic that Kevin Spacey was pegged to be Lex Luthor during the development process of Superman Lives, because he of course ended up playing the role so well - even if the film wasn't fantastic - in the 2006 reboot Superman Returns.

Originally played by Gene Hackman in probably its most iconic and memorable iteration, Spacey nevertheless made Luthor a fun, maniacal presence, and made good to keep up with Hackman's unforgettable portrayal.

If nothing else, Superman Returns proves that this is one of the creative choices on Superman Lives that definitely would have worked, likely regardless of the script.
