As a descendant of the occult-practicing monk Kan, Wong is another in a long line of men who trained to serve the Ancient One, eventually sent to the US to train under the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange. Though skilled in combat, he would mostly act as a manservant and long-time friend to Strange, staying by his side for many years.

Much more of a mentor and guide at the beginning of Doctor Strange, Wong (played by the appropriately named Benedict Wong) is a Master of the Mystic Arts in Kamar-Taj, and the keeper of the ancient texts when Strange comes to learn from the Ancient One. They become friends, and Wong is by Strange's side when he defeats Kaecilius.

In the films, he seems to be older than his comics counterpart, bigger than comics Wong's slight, unassuming frame. In Infinity War, though close cropped, his head is not shaved.

During Infinity War, Wong is seen with Strange in the New York Sanctum when Bruce Banner crashes through the ceiling, and helps them and Tony Stark fight Thanos's Children. He bows out directly after that fight, stating he needs to keep guard over the Sanctum and its mystical artefacts.
