9. The Relentless Slo-Mo Is Irritating

Lots of fans were worried about the excessive use of slow-motion in the build-up to Wonder Woman's release, mainly due to how much it featured in the trailers.

Whilst many hoped that the slo-mo shots would be contained merely to the trailer, it's a shame to discover that they're very much ingrained in the fabric of the movie. You can't go five seconds during a Wonder Woman fight scene before you're forced to watch a kick or a punch or a backflip occurring in slow-motion.

It doesn't necessarily ruin the fight scenes, but it dates the film in an odd, almost '90s way. Zack Snyder, the brains behind Batman v Superman and story contributor on Wonder Woman, is a devout slo-mo addict, of course, and clearly his obsession with the technique influenced Patty Jenkins' own usage (she's an addict now, too).

The occasional slo-mo shot is fine, but the way it's utilised in Wonder Woman feels excessive. Good slo-mo should feel natural to the scene, to the point where you can't really imagine the shot without it. Here, it quickly becomes irritating.
