10. Why Wonder Woman 1984 Was Always Set Before Justice League

Wonder Woman 1984 is set in, well, 1984. That puts it a long time before the events of both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and the fact the sequel is going back to the past frustrated fans who wanted to see Diana Prince's story continue in the present day.

"[She] just became Wonder Woman in the first movie, so I kind of want a much more solo movie, and as soon as you go current day, you really have to deal with all the other heroes," Jenkins explains. "So I was like, 'We need a movie about Wonder Woman, now on this world.' So that was the leading thing is I was like, 'We got to see Wonder Woman before we ever get into all the other guys at the same time.'"

Aquaman managed without cameos from the likes of Batman and the Flash, so this still feels like something of a missed opportunity. Still, it means the filmmaker had a clean slate to continue Wonder Woman's story, even if a story set in the past does create a whole host of continuity issues!
