Wonder Woman 2 Director Set?
Sounds like it's all but official.
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is almost certain to return for the movie's inevitable sequel, if recent comment from the filmmaker are anything to go off.
During a Women in Film event, in which the DC movie was screened for female writers and filmmakers, Jenkins spoke of an "epiphany" she had about the follow-up.
Advocate quotes her as saying...
“I had an epiphany about Wonder Woman 2. I was like, ‘you don’t have to do this. It doesn’t have to be a foregone conclusion that you do Wonder Woman 2.’ But then as I was falling asleep I had an epiphany. "I was like, ‘Wait a minute. You have the greatest character of all time that you love dearly, with a cast that you love sitting at the palm of your hand at this day and age - you can do whatever you want with them - are you crazy?’ And then I suddenly realised, it’s not more, it’s another movie. It’s its own movie. And it’s got to be great.”
The internet appeared to take that as official confirmation that Jenkins is all signed up for Wonder Woman 2, but the director later took to Twitter to clarify that she was merely expressing her "hopes and dreams" during the address.
However, it sounds like this is all but official. Of course DC and Warner want Jenkins back after Wonder Woman netted them more than $500 million in box office taking within two weeks, along with glowing reviews across the board.
A release date for Wonder Woman 2 is yet to be set, but you'll be able to see the character in action again later this year when she teams up with Superman, Batman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg in Justice League.
