1. Steve Trevor Sacrifices Himself To Save Diana
The Rumour: In an ironic twist of fate, Steve Trevor sacrifices himself in order to save Diana from Ares.
How Likely Is It?: Though Steve willingly laying down his life for Diana would be a clever spin on the movie's convention-defying through-line, that Diana is an extremely powerful woman and Trevor is incredibly fragile by comparison, Steve's death would simply be so much more dramatically potent if he is killed by Ares or somehow becomes another tragic war statistic.
It's much easier to buy Diana going into exile if she loses faith in humanity, which has probably been seduced into war by Ares, rather than simply fleeing because she's heartbroken over Steve's sacrificial, heroic demise.
It's definitely possible, and he's absolutely toast either way, but Steve dying at another's hand just feels more natural and likely than, say, a kamikaze attack on the enemy. 5/10
