Wonder Woman Movie Needs New Director
Michelle MacLaren drops the DC Comics movie after months of development.
Badass Digest, MacLaren and the studio disagreed over what time period the film should be set in, and whether or not Wonder Woman should have a pet tiger. The tiger was, apparently, MacLaren's idea. At least they apparently agreed on the colour of her invisible plane. Wonder Woman is still set for a release on June 23rd, 2017. This suggests that production should get underway later this year. Warner Bros. will need to find a new director, STAT, and I hope for their sake they find a woman to do the job.
Michelle MacLaren has been developing the Wonder Woman feature film for several months, but Warner Bros. have now announced officially that she's left the project. The reason cited is, as usual, "creative differences." As the old joke goes, maybe MacLaren was being creative and Warner Bros. wanted her to be different. There hasn't been, it's worth pointing out, a statement from MacLaren herself, and nor is there likely to be. We'll be waiting for her to speak about this in interviews somewhere down the line.
