20 Horror Movies Ruined By TERRIBLE Reveals
18. The Killer Is A Random Nobody - The Open House
Netflix's The Open House is, for the bulk of its runtime, a thunderously boring horror film about a teenager, Logan (Dylan Minnette), and his mother Naomi (Piercey Dalton) encountering a threatening presence in their new home.
But it lurches into downright infuriating territory in the third act, when Logan and Naomi learn that they're actually being terrorised by an intruder who has broken into their house.
The film ends with Logan mistakenly stabbing his mother to death while facing off against the intruder, only for said intruder to then strangle Logan to death and depart to another open house to repeat his murderous MO.
The big frustration here is that The Open House leads the audience to assume that the intruder's identity is going to be revealed - and that it'll either be one of the movie's few other characters or someone related to Logan and Naomi.
But the movie just... ends without giving us anything - its big reveal is a non-reveal, really. Rumour has it that if you listen closely during the end credits, you can hear the filmmakers laughing at you for thinking you'd get any sort of closure.
